Triemli Hospital Zürich – CLEARjet based employee and patient cards

At the Hospital Triemli in Zürich, CLEARjet print
and erase systems facilitate the life for employees as
well as for patients with rewritable cards and save
money for the hospital.
The hospital employee ID card is equipped with a Legic
chip, enabling access to different hospital areas and
allows time recording through a suitable software.
Important information like name and position are printed
on the hospital ID card through CLEARjet print and erase
systems on a partial TRW stripe with an update
possibility of several hundred times. The reusability of
rewrite cards also allows the hospital to issue ID´s for
temporary personnel which offers the same
functionalities as the permanent IDs.

In addition also the patient cards are processed by the
CLEARjet print and erase systems. Every patient gets his/her
own patient card with their personal name printed on through
rewrite technology. The patient card is a contact chip card
with a payment function. Money can easily be loaded onto the
chip and TV, telephone and restaurant consumptions can be
paid by the card in a very easy and convenient way without
the need for the patient to take along money. After the
hospital stay the remaining sum is disbursed and the data
stored and printed on the card is deleted and the card is
ready for the next patient.
The big advantages of rewrite technology for the Triemli
Hospital is that employee IDs can easily be updated and
patient cards can easily be reused – which saves a lot of
system costs for the hospital. In addition the cards allow
convenient payments within the hospital without the need of
cash and coin handling.
